Venugopal, the cowherd form of Krishna, is depicted in this Tanjore glass painting. Venugopal stands surrounded by his herd under the canopy of a tree, playing his flute. Typical of the Tanjore style, he is depicted ornately bejeweled, but the figure itself is fuller, and created with simple lines and colours. What was earlier depicted using gold leaf is now done in yellow pigments.
