The Tang Shipwreck was acquired through the generous donation of the Estate of Khoo Teck Puat.

Although the Tang shipwreck was built in the Middle East, very few objects from that region were discovered in the wreckage. This pale-blue glass bottle contains an unknown hard substance which may have been a type of medicine or cosmetics. Glass was widely produced in the Islamic Middle East, and this object is among the few from the region where the ship originated. Glass had been imported into China from the West since the Han dynasty (206 BC–AD 220).
