This souvenir programme booklet was issued to complement the 1st Malaysia Grand Prix, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, and racing arrangements made by the Singapore Motor Club. The race at the Upper Thomson Circuit was declared open by Yang di-Pertuan Negara Yusof bin Ishak, and prizes for the race were sponsored by Esso. The event was attended by about 100,000 spectators
