This is a panoramic photograph of the Raffles Hotel in the 1920s. The Raffles Hotel was a colonial style hotel. Initially a privately owned beach house built in the 1830s, it became Emerson's Hotel in 1878 and opened as the Raffles Hotel in 1887. The new main building, pictured here, was built in 1899 by architect John Bidwell. This photograph was taken bu F.T. Hill-Cottingham, and shows the Raffles Institute on the left, as well as Beach Road and the sea front. This photograph was previously displayed in the Raffles Hotel Museum.
