Panoramic View of Raffles Hotel 1995

This is a panoramic photograph of the Raffles Hotel in 1995. It shows the Hotel nestled in a junction, with the first few high rise buildings that are now unbiquitous around it. The Raffles Hotel was a colonial style hotel. Initially a privately owned beach house built in the 1830s, it became Emerson's Hotel in 1878 and opened as the Raffles Hotel in 1887. The new main building, pictured here, was built in 1899 by architect John Bidwell. This photograph was previously displayed in the Raffles Hotel Museum.
