Japanese Occupation of Southeast Asia officially ended after the Japanese surrendered to the British at the Municipal Building (known as City Hall today) on 12 September 1945. General Seishirō Itagaki formally surrendered to Lord Louis Mountbatten on behalf o f General Hisaichi Terauchi.
