This communion certificate is written in the Dutch language and is a document which acknowledges the conversion of Elisabeth Geertrunida Tan. This document was from an Indonesian Chinese Peranakan family in Manado. It belonged to the first member of the family who converted to Roman Catholicism in 1930 and is representative of the larger Christian conversion that took place amongst Chinese Peranakans in Indonesia in the 20th century.
