This programme is for the first play put on by the Gunong Sayang Association after Felix Chia’s Pileh Menantu sparked a new interest in Peranakan theatre in the 1980s. Unlike in the 1950s, the cast contained both men and women. Directed by William Tan, a star of the Peranakan stage in the 1950s, Buang Keroh Pungot Jernih is about two daughters-in-law who cannot agree with each other and break up the family by convincing their husbands to move out of the ancestral home, and how they are reconciled.
