A donation from the Istana to the Singapore Art Museum, Untitled was originally an official gift from HE Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, Prime Minister of Mauritius, when he called on former President Nathan on 28 September 2010 in Singapore.The work is typical of Mauritus artist Vaco Baissac (b 1940), who is known for his penchant for symbolic allusions of natural beauty, such as islands, sun and light. The artist is known for his vivid palette of colours, and has executed several public commissions in Mauritius.
