Gift in memory of Family Tan Tjien Sian, Manado.

This brooch is known as 'kerosang rantay' as it consists of three brooches held together by a chain. Each brooch is decorated with a pearl which sits in a flower design. It is used as fasteners on blouses and kebaya.Gold and pearls are an unusual combination for Peranakan jewellery. Gold is usually matched with diamonds or ‘intan’ whilst pearls, which are used primarily in mourning jewellery, tend to be matched with silver.
