Blue and gold floral samfoo pants

This samfoo is typical of the 1930s style. The waistline is more fitted compared to the 1920s samfoo. The garment has a high collar and is fitted with a panel of lace lining on the inside. It was probably tailor-made. The samfoo was donated by Ms. Ng Chee Sun Angie. Her family used to run Brilliant Photo Studio at 268 South Bridge Road. Her parents had six children including herself. She lost her father during the Second World War and her mother took over the running of the studio thereafter. The shop survived until the 1980s.
