Gift of Ling Yang Chang
Ling Yang Chang is a self-taught Singapore artist. He started his artistic practice while in high school, and during his study of Chinese literature at the University of Singapore, Ling stepped into the local art circle and had direct contacts with some old masters of Nanyang Art Movement. Ling's art is the fusion of the essences of Chinese and Western art making. In particular, he has always been inspired by the Ming individualist Bada Shanren and modern ink masters such as Qi Baishi and Lin Fengmian. His recent work focuses on painting the daily life and common people in a joyful manner.
