This wrapper is made from fine slices of bamboo interwoven with cotton thread that were dyed with non-fast colours with a zig-zag pattern. Moisture has made the dyes run.Woven wrappers were made as an act of merit and were used for wrapping precious manuscripts, which might contain the 'vinaya' or monastic laws or dharma texts.
