The photograph is part of an album which consists of photographs related to the activities of The Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (R.A.O.B.) as well as the sights and scenes of Singapore and Malaysia.Pulau Brani (Island of the Brave) is located between the main island and Sentosa. The Straits Trading Company built a tin smelting plant on the island in 1890. There were also several ‘kampongs’ (villages) on Pulau Brani, such as Kampong Selat Sengkir, Kampong Kopit and Kampong Telok Saga. The factory and villagers eventually moved out in the 1960s to make way for the Brani Naval Base. The base officially closed in 2002. The Brani Container Terminal was opened on the island in 1992 while the Police Coast Guard Headquarters was built at the southern part of Pulau Brani in 2006.
