This exhibit shows a man fighting a mythical creature resembling a dragon and is based on the story of 'Wu Song Da Hu' or 'Wu Song kills the tiger’. According to Chinese folklore, Wu Song passed by Jingyang Ridge on his way home and killed a fierce tiger there using his bare hands. His tiger-slaying exploits made him famous and he was subsequently offered the post of Chief Constable of Yanggu Prefecture. However, as Haw Par Villa co-founder Aw Boon Haw's first name literally meant 'gentle and cultured tiger', a mythical creature replaced the tiger in the exhibit so as not to risk offending him.
