Dessert bowls were often commissioned or purchased as part of a larger set of Nonyaware. These were often used as part of a dinner service or as special pieces on a spring table in the wedding chamber during a traditional Peranakan wedding. Dessert bowls were often used to serve sweet desserts like 'kueh ee', 'chendol' and 'tai bak'.
