This print (chromolithograph) by Austrian diplomat and naturalist Eugen von Ransonnet was published in his 'Skizzen aus Singapur und Djohor' (Sketches: Singapore and Johore) in 1876. Von Ransonnet spent three days at a Catholic mission in Bukit Timah and witnessed the burning of the forest to clear land for cultivation.
