This is a record from the Registrar of Her Majesty’s Court of Judicature for the Division of Singapore and Malacca, Christian Baumgarten, concerning the estate of Nyna Mahomed. It was signed by a widow named Hajeemah on 25 October 1858. She sought for a sum of eight Spanish dollars from the estate of Nyna Mahomed, which was at the time of writing being managed by the Accountant General of the court. The sum of eight Spanish dollars was to cover the costs of the circumcision ceremony for her three children. This document is part of the John Koh collection which comprises of various legal documents in Arabic, Jawi, and English, and serves as a record of the 19th and early 20th century colonial legal systems in Singapore and the interactions of various ordinary individuals with the law.
