Plain dish

This large dish is of solid potting. Its simple shape with gently curving walls, combined with an even, flawless ivory glaze, all contribute to the beauty of this piece. It was this large dish that first inspired the collectors - the Hickleys, to start collecting Dehua porcelain, while on holiday in Macao in 1969.Dehua, located on the southeast coast of Fujian province, is well known for its production of white porcelain, known to Europeans as 'blanc de Chine'. The earliest Dehua porcelain was produced as early as the 14th century but the production and quality of these porcelain peaked around the 17th and 18th centuries.
