This woodblock print depicts a fundraising campaign for the founding of Nanyang University (Nantah), highlighting the participation of trishaw pullers. Established in 1955 by Chinese businessman and philanthropist Tan Lark Sye (1897–1972), Nantah was the first Chinese-language university in Southeast Asia. Its construction was made possible through widespread community support — with donations pouring in from all sectors of society, from wealthy benefactors like Tan to everyday individuals such as taxi drivers, hawkers, and trishaw pullers.
