This sireh box is made with three kinds of metal namely gold, 'suasa' (an alloy) and silver with repoussed and chased designs of foliaceous motifs. It has been used to hold lime, tobacco and also as a jewellery box.Sireh and tobacco were important items in Southeast Asian social customs and would have been offered to all guests as a sign of hospitality.
