Envelope containing correspondence relating to G. Uttamram

G. Uttamram was a respected Indian businessman, philanthropist and community leader in Singapore. In 1931, he established Uttamram & Co., an import-export textile company, in Arab Street. The business expanded and it soon became Uttamram (Singapore) & Co., with offices in Japan, Hong Kong, Penang and Jakarta. In 1947, he established another company, K. Ramanial & Co. (with Mr. Kanubhai Mehta). The company specialised in commodity trading and later diversified into scrap metal. In this correspondence, G. Uttamram’s business associate from Bombay congratulates and wishes him success on a new venture.
