Located at North Canal Road, the French-style Police Courts was built in 1885. Like the classical style Central Police station across the street (not seen in this photograph), both buildings were substantial public works reflecting an eclectic mix of architectural styles popular during the late 1880s. The Police Courts was demolished in 1975.
