This is a Malayan Railways brochure for the Transport & Communications Exposition held in Singapore from 1-31 August 1969 at the old Kallang Airport, which coincided with the 150th anniversary of the founding of Singapore. The first exposition of its kind to be held in Singapore, it was organised to educate the ‘common man’ about the role and progress of transport and communications in the fast-developing new nation. The Malayan Railways (KTM), which was established in 1885, connected Malaysia and Singapore through the Johor Bahru-Woodlands route (1923) and has been part of Singapore’s transport and communications landscape ever since.
