Four armed warrior bracket

This sculpture is of a four-armed warrior with a beard and moustache, holding a spear, sword and shield, depicting a gesture of benevolence. Brackets such as this can be seen atop every pillar on rows of pillars in a typical north Indian temple mandapa (hall). They can be seen from a lower vantage point thus making the entire figure squatter and dwarf-like. The warrior although fearful, is adorned with bangles, arm bands, necklace and choker, including head ornaments.
