The receipt that was issued for a donation towards repair work that was carried out by the Kwang Hok Society, one of the secret societies in Singapore, forms part of the Wiliam Stirling Collection. William George Stirling was the Assistant Protector of Chinese in Singapore from 1921 to 1931. Receipt such as this, stated the specified amount that was donated for the repair works of the ‘huiguan’, or clan association.
