These colourful paintings are from an album of Hindu Costumes depicting deities, composite figures, soldiers and dancing girls. The bound album of notebook size has paintings on different papers with 24 renderings and 19 blank leaves. During the British colonial period, the paintings were loosely collected and labelled by the collector. It could be possible that a military officer who was serving in the British army may have commissioned this set during his stay in the region at the time of the Great Mysore Wars. There is a possibility that more than one painter may have worked on this album.
