This green-glazed head was probably part of a larger piece made in the form of a lion. It was made in Si Satchanalai, one of the twin royal cities in the Sukhothai period from the mid 13th to the mid 15th century. Kilns in this region were some of the largest ceramic producers in Southeast Asia at this time.
