This brass fan also known as 'surruti', is one of the ritual objects in Hindu worship. In the most Tamil Hindu temples, the 'shodashopachara puja' or 16 forms of worship is customarily practised during festive occasions. The mirror, fan, flywhisk, umbrella and various types of lamps are included during the worship.
