Qur'an

This Qur'an juz' or section is written in sini script, which is believed to be developed by Chinese Muslim calligraphers. Sini scripts, with their shallow downward strokes, look like or could be considered a variation of muhaqqaq, a script with shallow downward sweeping strokes with flat endings resembling swords or daggers. This manuscript contains five lines to a page on thick paper of two double pages illuminated in colours. The binding seems to be later than the manuscript although it is likely it could be a direct copy from the original. On the cover a name Wu-Xing is noted which could be the name of a Chinese binder.
