Brass ‘roti jala’ mould presser

This is a straight-sided brass ‘roti jala’ (web-like pancake) mould presser with a perforated bottom for the ‘roti jala’ batter to seep through. The ‘roti jala’ crepe is formed by making small circles on a pan after lifting the batter-filled mould. ‘Roti jala’ is a traditional Malay cuisine eaten in the northern part of Sumatra island, as well as West Malaysia and Singapore. It is usually served with curry or ‘rendang’ (dry beef curry).
