Book entitled 'The Battle for Merger'

In September 1961, Lee Kuan Yew, began a series of radio talks in Malay, Mandarin, Tamil and English known as The Battle for Merger. These talks explained the history of the anti-colonial united front, which was made up of the People’s Action Party and the communists. Lee explained why the front broke up and why the communists were opposed to Merger. Lee also revealed his contacts with the “Plen”, the Malayan Communist Party representative who had promised support for the People’s Action Party in exchange for allowing communists to operate in Singapore.
