One of the early roads that was developed in Singapore during the late 1820s, Battery Road was built as a link between Commercial Square and the battery, Fort Fullerton. The road led to Johnston's Pier, which was demolished in 1933 to make way for the new Clifford Pier. This postcard has been wrongly labelled 'Buttery Road'.
