This is a short letter from Sir Stamford Raffles to Thomas Aston about an invitation to dine at Aston’s house. This invitation was also extended to Raffles’ sister, Mary Anne, who was married to Captain William Flint. She is referred to in this letter as “Mrs Flint”. It is unclear whether she joined the dinner, as she was ill at the time of writing. Raffles’ aide-de-camp, Thomas Otho Travers, would also be joining though he was not initially invited by Aston.
