An animal display at the Raffles Museum

This black and white photograph shows part of the Raffles Museum's zoological section. Here, there are various displays showcasing preserved deers, monkeys and bats. The purpose of the museum then was to collect objects of historical and archeological value, mainly from the Eastern Archipelago region but in particular from Singapore. The zoological collection such as these animal displays was the predecesor to the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research in the National University of Singapore today.
