One porcelain teapot with cover

This teapot has an overglaze enamel floral decoration on a pure white body with a motif of Li Tiemei holding high the red lantern.Li Tiemei is the daughter of Li Yuhe. The red lantern belonged to her father. The elder Li, who was captured and killed by the Japanese forces, is seen to have sacrificed his life for the Communist revolution. Hence, the red lantern which he bequeathed to his daughter is highly symbolic. Her possession of the lantern affirms her role as a successor of the revolution. Her name (which means iron-willed plum blossom) further indicates to audiences the kind of revolutionary attitude which they should have.Propaganda items such as this instructed the masses on Communist ideology through depictions of Mao or other community leaders, slogans and ideological writing.
