This beautifully shaped beater, made of solid wood, is used for beating back the weft threads on a tablet weaving loom.The method of tablet weaving has ancient roots in various parts of the world including Burma. It is still practiced today in the weaving of monk's girdles and manuscript binding tapes (sazigyo).
