The studio camera was used by Mr Tan from the 1960s to take black and white photographs of Sembawang residents and personnel from Sembawang Naval Base. The wooden camera has three different types of lenses-the 250 mm for individual and family portraits, the 300 mm for half portraits and the 210 mm for group portraits. In 1990, Mr Tan modified this camera to enable it to take colour photographs He subsequently moved his business to Yishun, and closed it in 2004 when he retired.
