This postcard shows a busy scene of automobiles, rickshaws and pedestrians at Orchard Road, which was named after the numerous nutmeg plantations that were found in the area in the early days. However, before its commercial character was established, Orchard Road was a quiet residential area where only bullock carts were found on the street.
