This is the administration bond of Syed Abdollah bin Hassan and Syed Ahmat bin Abdul Rachman Alsagoff, who were bound to the East India Company and their successors for the sum of 1000 Spanish dollars. They were the executors of the estate of the deceased Syed Tahah bin Hamed Al-Sagoff of Singapore. They were required to submit a full inventory of the goods of the deceased to the Court of Judicature of Prince of Wales’ Island, Singapore, and Malacca by 1 March of the following year, and an account of their executorship by 1 April of the following year. This document is part of the John Koh collection which comprises of various legal documents in Arabic, Jawi, and English, and serves as a record of the 19th and early 20th century colonial legal systems in Singapore and the interactions of various ordinary individuals with the law.
