This is a statutory declaration made by Abubakar bin Mohamed bin Oman Bil Fakiah of No. 276 North Bridge Road Singapore, verifying the creation of the power of attorney issued by Syed Abdullah bin Abibakar Alkoff on 4 October 1901. Abubakar certified that he was present at its creation and witnessed Syed Abdullah sign and deliver the power of attorney. He also verified that the signatures of Syed Abdullah, along with those of his witnesses, Abubakar bin Mohamed bin Omar Bil Fakiah, Abdullah bin Omar al Zahar Al Mesheer, Omar bin Abdullah bin Zein Al Zahar, Alwi bin Abubakar Alkoff, Ali bin Mohamed Al Jafree, and Abdulkader bin Hussein bin Abdulrahman bin Shababaldin. He stated that he made “this declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true and by virtue of the provisions of the Statutory Declaration Act of 1835.” This document is part of the John Koh collection which comprises of various legal documents in Arabic, Jawi, and English, and serves as a record of the 19th and early 20th century colonial legal systems in Singapore and the interactions of various ordinary individuals with the law.
