This is a photograph of a Malay family. The female members of the family are wearing 'baju kurung', a loose tunic worn over a 'sarong' and 'selendang', a shawl loosely draped over the head. The two boys are wearing long-sleeved tops over 'sarong pelekat' (a plaid pattern wrap-around cloth), a scarf wrapped around their necks and white 'songkong' (headdress). The man is wearing a Western-style jacket over a round collared shirt, 'sarong pelekat' and a 'blangkon' (traditional Javanese headdress).
