This bridal collar, also known as pedepan, would have been worn by the Peranakan Chinese bride on the first and third day of the wedding ceremony. Made of silk or velvet, it was sewn with filigree ornaments along the edges. Different accessories and outfits were required for the twelve-day traditional Peranakan wedding ceremony, during which symbolic rites were performed by the bride and groom.
