Built in 1937 by the brothers Aw Boon Haw and Aw Boon Par, the Tiger Balm Gardens, also known as Haw Par Villa, was a Chinese mythological theme park. It was intended to be both entertaining and educational, relying on the statues and tableaux to portray anecdotes from Chinese folklore and legend.
