This pair of 'naga'-shaped weaving implements were used for the insertion of the flat warp (vertical) threads beam. Chinese sources record that the Khmer learned weaving from the Siamese - it is still not clear if this was the case. There are certainly great similarities in the weaving tradition, as well as the tools weavers of both countries use.
