This flint comes from the Toba Batak people near Lake Toba in North Sumatra. It is possible that this object was handled by the traditional priest for use in rituals. Batak priests made their own tools and amulets to contact the spirits, keep away malevolent forces and predict auspicious days for ceremonies.
