This set of five buttons feature the head of King Edward VII. Such buttons made of coins were traditionally worn by Peranakan men and were adopted from American or European coins. Other than coins, buttons worn by men were usually made of silver, bakelite, ivory, amber and bone. In contrast, buttons worn by Peranakan women were more ornamented and were decorated with filigree gold, gilt silver and diamonds.
