These epaulettes were part of an INA uniform belonging to Rasamma Navarednam, a young volunteer female soldier of the INA’s all-female Rani of Jhansi ('Queen of Jhansi') Regiment. The Regiment was formed in Singapore a day after the proclamation of the Provisional Government of Free India in Singapore on 21 October 1943. The first contingent of the Regiment consisted of about 500 female volunteer soldiers.
