This manuscript painting depicts the Prophet Muhammad seated on the stepped pulpit or minbar preaching in the mosque before his son-in-law and companion Ali and his grandsons Hassan and Hussein. The holy family is distinguished by a halo of golden flame radiating from their heads, with veils covering the Prophet's and Ali's face as depiction of the Prophet and his companions is highly discouraged in Islam.This painting is highly important in Shiite iconography.
