This is the first edition of a book titled ‘Singapore Assignment’ published in Tokyo by The Nippon Times. It gives a rare first-hand Japanese account in English of the beginnings of the war with Britain in Southeast Asia. The author was an American-educated Japanese journalist who worked with the Singapore Herald from 1939 to 1942 and was editor of the Syonan Shimbun during the Japanese Occupation of Singapore (1942-1945).
